Boosting future skills for job creation and employability: 24 - 25 April Barcelona

What is this course about?

This seminar aims to equip you with the most salient tools to boost future skills for job creation and employability and, thus, to

drive territorial competitiveness and employment policies by:

• creating a space for exchange on the topic of skills mismatch, fostering skills utilisation, future skills and skills anticipation;

• familiarising you with models and tools for inter-institutional cooperation to create a sound ecosystem for the

development of skills strategies and for implementing working models;

• sharing best practices in skills update projects and innovative financing models, which can be of inspiration for

replication of elements in your own territories.

 

How will it help you?

In this practice-oriented seminar, we will look at different layers of the public sector as a multi-level governance approach

is needed in order to create effective skills policies and strategies. Moreover, developing successful skills strategies

and policies does not rely on public authorities alone: multi-stakeholder partnerships with businesses, social partners,

academic institutions and the public sector are needed. To this end, you will be equipped with the skills to build strong

partnerships with the support from successful case studies in the area. Moreover, we will turn to future skills and interactive

workshops on skills forecasting and designing of skills strategies, coupled with innovative financing schemes for public

actors.

 

This two-day course will rely on a mix of lectures (presentations), case studies and tailor-made interactive exercises in

which you will have the chance to apply the newly learnt knowledge and to exchange your experience with peers.

This course has been especially designed for officials from education ministries, local, regional and national development

officials, staff from universities and secondary schools involved in curriculum development, business relations, career

planning, etc., staff from employment and training offices, public employment services and agencies, social partners, as

well as NGOs, think tanks and foundations working in the area of skills development and fighting youth unemployment.
