This article presents a methodological framework that can be applied for analysing social innovations and explores the character of social innovations in rural communities.
The article focuses on several dimensions: the first is ontological and refers to the concept of social innovation; the second is epistemological and explores how social innovations could be analysed, whereas the third focuses on methodological aspects.
The article also presents empirical evidence exploring the nature of social innovations in rural communities of Lithuania.
